Job Description

Assist project managers and other team members with daily duties of projects assigned. Some examples below.

  • Site prep/Dust protection.

  • Project front end demolition as needed.

  • Framing and rough carpentry.

  • Exterior siding/trim installation.

  • Interior trim installation.

  • Interior crown molding and custom trim installation.

  • Custom cabinetry installation.

  • Stair parts and handrail systems installation.

  • Window and door installations.

Job Description

Licensed or Un-licensed Architect responsible for finished permit plans, specifications, and approval of materials/ details for light commercial projects. Applies sound and diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices in a broad array of assignments and related fields. Acts independently regarding architectural methods and complexities. Supervision and guidance mainly concern overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.

• Perform as-built site field measure for new projects.

• Research site conditions and zoning regulations to determine design direction and possibilities.

• Sketching of potential design concepts to assist with visualization.

• Work with other members of internal staff to direct and develop each design as a team.

• Managing the project design schedule from initial field measure through construction documentation.

• Serves as the primary liaison communicating design concepts to clients and internal staff.

• Meetings with clients and internal staff to review and revise design based on client needs and communication.

• Sourcing of specific product finish selections and specifications.

• Development of design and construction details for communication to clients and production staff.

• Meet with structural engineer to determine specific structural requirements for projects.

• Creation of construction documents to obtain building permits.

• Create submittal package for HOA, historic review and/or zoning variances – Attend necessary commission meetings.

• Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to finalize design and product details.

• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture

• 6+ years commercial design and drafting experience.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD

• Microsoft Office Suite

• Experience with Autodesk Revit, Sketchup and Adobe Suite preferred but not required.On time, polite and courteous to clients and staff.

• Strong background in construction methods and details

• Proficiency in construction documents for commercial projects.

• Strong understanding of the building code

Nicholson Builders is looking for an architectural designer who is passionate about residential design, construction details and documentation to help grow the architectural division.  Minimum requirements would include a 4-year Bachelor of Architecture degree and a minimum of 6 years professional experience self-managing multiple residential projects from initial design through construction.
